Performance
Dunlop's strongest road performer in the UAE range is the SP Sport Maxx 060+, which gives crisp steering and solid dry grip, making it a favourite for Japanese sports sedans. It is not as refined as a Pilot Sport 5, but it costs significantly less.
The SP Sport LM705 is a comfort-focused tyre that reduces road noise through its tread block design. On SUVs, the Grandtrek PT5 offers stable highway handling while the AT5 adds off-road traction with only a modest penalty in noise.
Durability
Dunlop tyres for the GCC are built with hot climates and rough roads in mind, and tread life is often better than their price suggests. A Grandtrek PT5 on a Prado commonly lasts 50,000–60,000 km in UAE use, and the AT5 is known for resisting chips and cuts on gravel.
Sedan tyres such as the SP Sport LM705 typically give 40,000–50,000 km. Because Dunlop is often fitted to fleet and rental vehicles, check the DOT date on any set you buy to make sure it is recent.
In UAE conditions
Sumitomo develops many of its Asian-market Dunlop tyres for heat, and they hold up well on 60–70°C summer roads. The Grandtrek AT5 is the Dunlop to choose for desert driving: it handles low-pressure sand driving and its sidewalls resist the punctures common on rocky wadi tracks.
At sustained 140 km/h on the E11 or E311, Dunlop's SUV tyres stay stable when inflated correctly. Underinflation is the main cause of heat-related failures we see on large SUVs, regardless of brand.
Typical price per tyre
